Are the Falcons good now?
We thought they were last season with that 5-0 start. And how’d that turn out?
New Orleans' defense had a worse night than Donald Trump, while the Falcons' offense sizzled and the defense did just enough to win a 45-32 shootout with the Saints. Both offenses played well, but Atlanta's defense stepped up with a few key plays to help the Falcons finish on top. The Falcons' running back tandem of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman were especially impressive. Together, they racked up nearly 300 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.
Atlanta now leads the NFC South with a 2-1 record. They host the Panthers (a surprising 1-2) next week with the chance to build a nice early lead in the division. If they’re going to contend, they’ll need some cushion. The Falcons travel to Denver and Seattle in Weeks 5 and 6. Of course, we’ve seen a hot start from the Falcons fizzle out before. Remember when they were 5-0 last year and then missed the playoffs completely?
Mohamed Sanu injured his shoulder. The Falcons receiver left the game and did not return.
Saints, Falcons show sign of unity after national anthem. Players from both teams joined hands and formed a circle.
