Steelers safety Sean Davis earned an illegal hit penalty for dropping his head for a helmet-to-helmet hit that separated Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley from a potential touchdown pass.
Chris Conley misses just 1 play after vicious helmet-to-helmet hit from Steelers safety
Conley was able to get himself to the sideline after a brutal and illegal hit.
The hit came on a key third-and-9 play from deep inside Pittsburgh territory. Conley, a second-year wide receiver, got a tenuous grasp on the ball before getting swarmed by a fast-closing Davis. Davis may have been trying to lead with his shoulder, but instead landed a head-to-head shot on the defenseless Kansas City wideout.
Conley remained on the field for several minutes before walking off under his own power. He passed the league’s concussion protocol and missed only one play.
The ensuing penalty gave the Chiefs a first-and-10 situation at the Pittsburgh 12. Kansas City trailed Pittsburgh 18-10 with under five minutes to play in their Divisional playoff clash.
