NFL prospects will try to impress scouts in the final football game at the StubHub Center before the Chargers move in.

We all need a little more Mike Martz in our lives. Fortunately, the NFLPA Bowl is here to teach the Greatest Show on Turf to some of the best college players in the game.

Martz will coach the National team against Jim Zorn’s American squad in a budding all-star game that will give two rosters of college seniors one more chance to impress pro scouts before the NFL Draft Combine. The sixth edition of the exhibition will draw players from Division I all the way to Division III to help find the gems scattered across the NCAA’s rosters.

But while several small-school standouts will make the trip west, there are plenty of recognizable faces who will play Saturday. Florida State quarterback Sean Maguire will split snaps with Minnesota passer Mitch Leidner on the American side, while Houston standout Greg Ward Jr. will anchor the National offense. Other potential draftees, like Michigan State wideout R.J. Shelton and UNLV linebacker Tau Lotulelei, will try to impress scouts with heady play on the West Coast as well.

While the game hasn’t traditionally been a foundation for NFL success — past MVPs include G.J. Kinne, J.C. Copeland, and Andrew Baggett — the exhibition has produced some solid NFL talent. Players like Deshazor Everett, Josh Lambo, Elandon Roberts, Chris Conley, and Trevone Boykin all made their mark in the final game of their college careers.

Before the StubHub Center will be the new home of the Chargers, it will host some of college football’s top players. The Los Angeles stadium has been the NFLPA Bowl’s home since 2012, and its success over the past five years helped serve as evidence for football’s viability in the 27,000-seat soccer venue.
