The Green Bay Packers will take on the New York Giants in the final wild card playoff game on Sunday. The Packers, after beating the Giants in the regular season, will play host to the Giants at Lambeau Field.
Giants vs. Packers 2017 live stream: How to watch NFL playoffs online
Can the Giants once again avenge a regular season loss in the playoffs?
Sunday’s game is set for kickoff at 4:40 p.m. ET and will be broadcast by FOX. A live stream will be available online via FOX Sports GO, though it will require login credentials from a cable or satellite provider to watch the online stream.
New York has a recent history of losing to the Packers in the regular season before exacting revenge in the postseason. In 2007, the Giants fell to the Packers at home and then topped Green Bay at Lambeau in the NFC Championship. In 2011, the Giants lost again at home to the Packers, but then went on to beat them a second time in the NFC Championship.
This time around, the winner isn’t guaranteed a spot in the Super Bowl. A win for either team on Sunday will still require them to get through some tough teams, including either the Dallas Cowboys or Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Divisional Round.
Back in Week 5, the Packers played a sloppy game but still came out ahead of the Giants. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 23 of 45 passes for 259 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The picks were uncharacteristic, but the 147 yards the team managed on the ground certainly helped.
Eli Manning, meanwhile, had 199 yards and a touchdown for the Giants, but was only assisted with 43 yards from the Giants’ running game. Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. caught five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. New York’s defense was playing well at that point, but even with two picks for Rodgers, he was able to outgain the New York offense on his own.
What followed was an iffy stretch for both teams, though the Packers seemed to experience a lot of midseason panic when they fell to 4-6. The offense wasn’t running well, and the defense couldn’t stop anyone. But they have righted the ship, and after putting together a six-game winning streak to win the NFC North title, the Packers once again enter a playoff game as one of the league’s elite offenses.
New York’s defense is, at the very least, right there with them. Manning has had his usual struggles with accuracy and interceptions, but the defense has supported him quite well. The Giants finished the season ranked in the top 10 in total defense and allowed 10 or fewer points in three of their last four outings. They finished second in the NFL in points allowed per game, at 17.8.
Meanwhile, Green Bay’s offense finished the season ranked fourth in the league in scoring at 27 points per game, including four consecutive games of 30-plus points to close out the regular season.
