Bilal Powell tackled himself after breaking through the Jaguars’ defensive line for a six-yard gain. But since no one actually touched him before he hit the turf, he simply picked himself up and ran into the Jets’ record book.
Bilal Powell tackled himself, then ran 75 yards for Jets’ longest TD of the season
The Jaguars thought Powell was down. He was not.

Powell used Jacksonville’s confusion to leave the team’s defenders in the dust for a 75-yard rushing touchdown — the second-longest touchdown run in franchise history.
What it means for the Jets: New York answered the Jaguars’ first touchdown drive of the game with a one-play response of its own. Powell had just 37 yards on 15 carries in last week’s win over the Dolphins. With a little bit of weirdness, he gave his season numbers a big boost.
What it means for the Jaguars: Jacksonville has been a pleasant surprise in 2017, and a win Sunday would put the team at 3-1. The Jaguars were a 4.5-point favorite on the road, but they won’t be able to put away the Jets if they keep letting up big plays like this — even if it was a bit unorthodox. Powell’s touchdown was the first run of 20-plus yards the team has allowed all season.
