Falcons vs. Seahawks 2017: Start time, TV schedule for ‘Monday Night Football’

Adrian Clayborn gets the chance to abuse another embattled offensive line.

The Falcons abused a shoddy offensive line to ruin Dak Prescott’s day and climb back over .500 by beating the Falcons in Week 10. That’s bad news for their next opponent — a Seahawks team that’s struggled to keep Russell Wilson upright since he came to the Pacific Northwest. Seattle will have to fix its blocking problems in a hurry when the Falcons come to town for a Monday Night Football matchup at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN (live stream).

Adrian Clayborn ate up the Cowboys’ backup left tackles last week en route to six sacks and an affirming win for Atlanta. On Sunday, he’ll be paired up against former All-Pro Duane Brown, but Brown may be hobbled. The newly-acquired space clearer left last week’s game with an ankle injury and might not be 100 percent against a suddenly scary pass rush. That’s bad news for Wilson, who already got his team in trouble earlier this year for ignoring the league’s concussion protocol after a big hit.

Falcons at Seahawks news:

Adrian Clayborn of the Falcons had the game of his life on Sunday against the Cowboys. It was one of the most dominant performances I’ve ever seen from a defensive lineman. Clayborn might as well have had that NBA Jam glow going because as he kept torching Dallas’ left tackles, I could’ve sworn I heard someone in the background yelling, “He’s on fire!”

That’s six defensive players - four defensive linemen and two linebackers - with only five offensive linemen and Eddie Lacy to protect Russell. That means if Lacy or a single lineman fails on their block, Wilson is in danger.

The offense on the other hand was good as they recorded 22 first downs and averaged 5.2 yards per play, scored 27 points and allowed only one sack. It was not the vintage Falcons offensive performance that we saw on several occasions during the 2016 season but it was an efficient outing from a unit that lost their leading rusher early in the contest.

According to ProFootballFocus, he was the number one run stopping safety with four run stops on 22 run snaps. He helped the Seahawks limit Adrian Peterson to just 29 yards on 21 carries. Additionally, he forced the fumble on Peterson’s very first carry.

Seattle lined up in their 4-3 Under front with Chancellor on the line of scrimmage. He was able to use his outside arm to collapse the running lane while still being able to recover quickly enough to pop the ball out.

How will the Falcons running game fare without Devonta Freeman?

A concussion suffered against the Cowboys has Freeman out for Monday night’s game. Fortunately, Atlanta has the depth to fill his role without losing much of his impact. Tevin Coleman stepped up last week, earning 83 yards on 20 carries as his team cruised to victory. He and change-of-pace back Terron Ward will attempt to keep that success rolling against the Seahawks.

Falcons at Seahawks prediction:

Our panel of experts is leaning toward the home team by a 6-3 margin.
