The Patriots have handled some of the biggest tests of their 2017 season after dispatching teams like the Saints, Falcons, and Raiders. Now they’ve got to take care of business in the AFC East.

Can Miami revive its playoff hopes with a major upset Sunday?

New England plays five of its final six games against divisional opponents, the only exception being a much-hyped showdown with the Steelers in Pittsburgh. The Patriots kick off that stretch Sunday when they host Miami. The two teams will kick off at 1 p.m. ET; the game will be broadcast live on CBS (live stream).
The Dolphins started their season on a heater, but have cooled considerably since then. Wins over the Falcons and Titans have since been erased by a four-game losing streak that’s taken the franchise out of the playoff picture. A weak AFC means the door isn’t closed, even at 4-6. However, it’ll take a road win as a 16-point underdog to stay in the race.

Dolphins at Patriots news:
- Depressing question time! Should the Dolphins turn to Jay Cutler or Matt Moore for the rest of the season?
Jay Cutler is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after being hit on the final play of the first half against the Buccaneers, which led to a spirited second half performance from Matt Moore. This is the second time we’ve seen Moore successfully orchestrate coach Adam Gase’s offense after Cutler has been sidelined. Unfortunately for Miami, naming Moore the starter isn’t an obvious solution after his poor outing against the Ravens earlier this season.
- New England’s defensive revival has the team playing the way Bill Belichick envisioned.
What’s so interesting about the Patriots’ sudden ability to keep teams from scoring is that, when purely looking at the numbers, it doesn’t make a ton of sense. By every metric other than points allowed, the Patriots have one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
- The state of the Dolphins’ defense depends heavily on how the team’s rookies are playing.
Recording another solid game, Cordrea Tankersley was taken advantage of a few times by the Bucs offense, but it remains par for the course for the rookie. With six tackles and two pass deflections though, it is clear that Tankersley is growing by the week and should be a fixture of this Dolphins defense for years to come.
- The NFL spared us from having to watch the Patriots on Thanksgiving. Trust us, that’s a good thing.
Which Miami quarterback will underwhelm Sunday?
Jay Cutler left last week’s Dolphins loss with a concussion. Backup Matt Moore hasn’t been much better than the embattled veteran in relief. Despite having weapons like Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills, and DeVante Parker at its disposal, Miami is passing for only 212 yards per game this fall. Cutler remained in the NFL’s concussion protocol earlier this week, putting pressure on Moore — who was behind center for a 40-0 loss to the Ravens in his only start this season — to step up.
