The Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders are both teetering on the edge of playoff contention. They’ll be playing each other under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football, broadcast live at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC (live stream).

Dallas is 7-6, well behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. Their only hope is a wild card spot, but they trail several teams in the NFC, and are behind even the two 7-6 teams ahead of them due to various tiebreaks.

Oakland is 6-7, and also well out of a wild card spot. The loser of Sunday’s game will surely be out of playoff contention, though both teams already could be, even if they win out, provided the teams ahead of them hold steady.

The Raiders have had a very rough season, with just about every one of their promising players from 2016 disappointing. Derek Carr has completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has consistently missed the mark with the game on the line. Amari Cooper has just 42 receptions for 499 yards, behind both Michael Crabtree and Jared Cook.

Ezekiel Elliott has been great for the Cowboys, but he’s out due to a league suspension. The Cowboys have definitely struggled without him, but they didn’t win all of their games with him, either. Dak Prescott has completed 63.2 percent of his passes for 2,752 yards, 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Cowboys vs. Raiders news:

It’s been a rough year for Amari Cooper, who has under-performed and has dealt with injuries on top of that. The folks over at Silver and Black Pride think the Raiders should just shut him down for the remainder of the season.
Whether or not they actually shut him down, Cooper is not expected to be in action for Sunday’s game.
Also on the injury front, the Raiders have a lengthy injury report. Cornerback David Amerson went back on the did-not-participate list after missing play for the past six weeks. Mario Edwards Jr. and Clive Walford have missed time.
Obi Melifonwu, a rookie safety, will also miss the game for the Raiders. He had to have surgery and is now on injured reserve for the second time this season.
Cowboys fans have noted that, while they miss running back Ezekiel Elliott, quarterback Dak Prescott has become a better player without him.
Dallas will likely be without David Irving, who missed practice and probably won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Raiders.
