The Patriots need just one more win to clinch the top seed in the AFC and earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Standing in their way is a Jets team that hasn’t beaten Tom Brady in Foxborough since 2011. The two teams meet at 1 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast on CBS (live stream).
Jets vs. Patriots 2017 live stream: Start time, TV schedule, and how to watch online
A win separates the Patriots from home-field advantage in the playoffs.

New York hasn’t beaten Brady on the road in the regular season since 2006, and the club will have the unenviable task of derailing New England at the tail end of a lost season. Even worse, they’ll be without Josh McCown, the journeyman passer whose surprising revival had carried the Jets to a better-than-expected season before suffering a broken hand. Bryce Petty, who is completing just 47.4 percent of his passes in 2017, has taken his place.
He’ll have to outduel Brady, whose steady play has put him at the front of this winter’s MVP race. The 40-year-old could lock down the league’s most prestigious player award with a big performance Sunday.

Jets at Patriots news:
As Brady faded, the opportunity for a first-time MVP winner grew bigger and bigger — but there was no one left to seize it. And now, through a combination of occasionally great play and a lack of worthy challengers, the league is on the precipice of its oldest MVP ever.
- Conspiracy or not, there have been a lot of close calls breaking in the Patriots’ favor lately.
Across three quarters of football between Week 15 and Week 16, the Patriots benefited from three dubious replay overturns of calls on the field.
We’ll go in reverse chronological order, because you already know the first.
- Robby Anderson’s emergence at receiver is the brightest spot from a bleak Jets season.
5 catches for 51 yards. A pedestrian statline, but in this Christmas Eve’s circumstances it was highly, highly impressive. Anderson was playing against the league’s top ranked cornerback with Bryce Petty throwing the passes. Robby did everything he could to make Bryce look good, and did about as well as you could hope.
Once again, the New England Patriots sit atop of each power rankings list heading into Week 17. At 12-3, the Tom Brady-led Patriots already clinched a first-round bye in the AFC and could secure home-field advantage with a victory against the New York Jets.
Other teams like the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers all clinched their respective divisions. All of those teams are ranked high on each list.
Is Dion Lewis one of the NFL’s best running backs?
Lewis has always been solid in a yards-per-carry sense, but recent injuries have given him the opportunity to shine as the team’s No. 1 tailback. In response, he’s produced some of the biggest performances of his career. The 27-year-old ran for a career-high 129 yards against the Bills last week, proving he can handle a heavy workload by grinding down Buffalo in the fourth quarter. He now ranks second in the league among qualified tailbacks with 5.2 yards per rush.
