Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan took home his first NFL MVP award, beating out former winners Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers. Dak Prescott edged Cowboys teammate Ezekiel Elliott for Offensive Rookie of the Year bonafides. And the Defensive Player of the Year Award stayed in the AFC West

These were among the award winners on Saturday night at the sixth annual NFL Honors show. The league celebrated itself on Super Bowl eve with the man who gave us the greatest fake football names of all-time primed to host. Keegan-Michael Key, of Key & Peele and Keanu fame, entertained the league’s top players throughout the two-hour broadcast.

While the Patriots and Falcons will be busy finishing off preparations for Super Bowl LI, the rest of the NFL’s superstars will be in Houston for the league’s answer to the Emmy’s. The NFL crowned its most valuable player, top rookies, No. 1 head coach, and elite rookies after a rousing 2016 season.

Several favorites emerged over those 17 weeks. Ryan looks like a lock to win MVP, while Elliott, who ran for a league-high 1,631 yards in 15 games, finished behind his quarterback, Prescott, for the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Though Prescott said he wanted a knife to split the award in half. Defensive Player of the Year was a close a race, with Oakland’s Khalil Mack edging Denver’s Von Miller, last year’s winner.

Here are the awards handed out Saturday night, some of which are way, way more important than others.
