Before the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots collided in Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium, singer Luke Bryan performed the national anthem.

Bryan, 40, sang the national anthem five seconds under the 2:09 mark, a proposition bet for Super Bowl LI.

On Thursday, Bryan told reporters that performing the national anthem is “a big moment for me and I’m excited to get out there and hopefully put my stamp on it.”

The star country singer was involved in some controversy when he performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the MLB All-Star Game in 2012. During the performance, he read some lyrics of the song off of his hand. Bryan later apologized for it.

This time, he didn’t need any notes to get through the song.
