The NFL Combine is an opportunity for teams and college football’s top players alike. Franchises get the opportunity to better know prospects and see them in action, albeit in workout situations that fail to properly simulate the conditions of an actual game. Prospects earn the chance to impress scouts and boost their draft stock, improving both their odds of earning a roster spot and the value of their rookie contracts.
NFL Combine drills 2017: Full running backs results
Leonard Fournette, Dalvin Cook, and Christian McCaffrey lead a deep stable of tailback prospects.

The combine got underway in earnest Thursday when running backs, offensive linemen, and special teamers took to the bench press to showcase their strength. The activities will continue all the way through Sunday as NCAA standouts take to the turf for the first time since bowl season ended.
While tailbacks like Leonard Fournette and Dalvin Cook remain high on draft boards, their low numbers in the vertical jump raised eyebrows. Fournette in particular isn’t having a great combine, though his 4.51-second 40 time was impressive for a 240-pound back. UNC’s T.J. Logan led the group in the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.37 seconds.
Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey wowed everyone with his athleticism. He put up top numbers in almost every category, and his 3-cone drill was the second-best by a running back since 2003.
Meanwhile, big performances from less-heralded players like Donnel Pumphrey, Kareem Hunt, and Brian Hill could be the difference between Day 2 or Day 3 selections — or even being drafted at all. Samaje Perine has already made an impact, cranking out an impressive 30 reps at the bench press — six more than the next-closest invitee.
Tennessee’s Alvin Kamara has turned heads, too, especially with his 39.5-inch vertical jump.
Unfortunately for Texas running back D’Onta Foreman, he had to pull out of the rest of the drills on Friday with a stress fracture in his foot.
Here’s the full list of results from this year’s crop of running backs at the 2017 NFL Combine. Key events like the 40-yard dash and agility drills take place Friday. We’ll have all the times and other important stats as they roll in.
