The Dallas Cowboys finally made a quarterback decision, but it’s not one fans will really care about. Dallas re-signed quarterback Kellen Moore to serve as a backup and provide depth for quarterback Dak Prescott.

Even though Moore is officially back in the fold in Dallas, there is still one huge question at the quarterback position: What will the Cowboys do with Tony Romo? Two weeks ago, there were reports that Dallas would release the 36-year-old on the first day of free agency, but that never happened. Then it was reported that the Cowboys would try to trade Romo instead of release him.

So far, that hasn’t happened either.

Romo even posted a goodbye video to fans on his Instagram account. However, he still remains with the Cowboys, though he would make $14 million next season, a figure Dallas probably wouldn’t want to pay a quarterback who will not start for the team.

Prescott, Moore, and Romo are the three quarterbacks who are under contract for next season, at least right now. Moore played well after Romo went down with an injury in 2015. In three games, Moore completed 61 of 104 passes for 779 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions.

Moore entered camp last season as the team’s primary backup, but he spent the entire season on injured reserve because of a fractured fibula he suffered the first week of training camp. The gruesome injury led to Prescott earning the primary backup gig and later named the starter after Romo suffered a broken bone in his back in the preseason.

This offseason, Moore will get the chance to prove to his coaches and teammates that he can stay healthy and provide a veteran presence in the locker room. Before arriving in Dallas in 2015, the 27-year-old quarterback played three seasons with the Detroit Lions.
