The NFL Scouting Combine reaches its conclusion on Monday with the defensive backs going through their on-field drills. With every other position group leaving Indianapolis, it’s time for the cornerbacks and safeties to make an impression with NFL scouts and executives in attendance.
NFL Combine results 2017: Full numbers for defensive backs
The defensive backs are the final position group to work out at the NFL Combine.

The 2017 draft class is loaded with talent at defensive back. LSU’s Jamal Adams and Ohio State’s Malik Hooker are dynamic safeties who could each be top 10 selections in April. Cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson and Teez Tabor could all be game-changing coverage specialists who make life easier for their defensive coordinators. Secondary-needy teams like the Titans, Packers, Raiders, and Saints will be watching Sunday and Monday’s drills intently.
One of the more intriguing storylines heading into this combine involves Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers. Despite an impressive college career, Peppers faces a lot of questions about where he fits. Is he a man without a position in the NFL? Peppers actually worked out with both the linebackers and defensive backs. He weighed in with the linebackers on Friday, and results were mixed, to say the least. At 5’11, Peppers is a couple inches shorter than his college measurement, and 213 pounds is on the lighter side for a linebacker.
Peppers tested out at the top of the linebacking ranks in agility drills, but his freak athleticism was never in doubt. Instead, teams will have to assess where he’ll make the biggest impact on the field — and if he has the strength and size to play linebacker full time.
Minnesota’s Jalen Myrick ran a 4.28 in his first run in the 40-yard dash, and UConn’s Obi Melifonwu registered an 11’9 broad jump, the second-best in NFL Combine history.
The defensive backs went through with the bench press on Sunday before the main drills on the final day of the combine. Here are the results so far, which will be updated throughout Monday:
Player | College | Height | Weight | Arm Length | Hands | Bench Press | 40 Yard Dash | Vertical Jump | Broad Jump | 3 Cone Drill | 20 Yard Shuttle | 60 Yard Shuttle |
