The 2017 NFL Scouting Combine wraps up on Monday with the final position groups taking the field. The defensive backs (cornerbacks and safeties) are the last group left in Indianapolis, with all the other players having gone home already. They’ll be performing their drills after several days of interviews and medical checkups.

Jabrill Peppers takes the field with the defensive backs on the final day of the Combine.

Once again, NFL Network has complete coverage of the day’s action, starting at 9 a.m. ET and continuing throughout the day. The combine is available to stream at NFL.com, and Verizon customers can access it on mobile devices through the NFL’s official app.
The biggest name to watch on Monday is Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers. A Heisman finalist last year, Peppers was a Swiss Army knife for Jim Harbaugh, playing all over the field in a variety of positions. However, there’s a major question hanging over Peppers — what position does he actually play? Is he a truly versatile player, or just a jack of all trades, master of none? Peppers weighed in at 5’11 (short for a safety) and 213 pounds (small for a linebacker), which answered precisely zero questions.
However, Peppers told reporters that he thinks he a safety, meaning his position workout with defensive backs on Monday will be crucial. Peppers will actually spend two days on the field at the combine. He worked out with the linebackers Sunday, crushing all the standard drills like the 40 (4.46 seconds), broad jump (35.5”), and vertical jump (128”).
Peppers’ athleticism is not in doubt, but whichever team drafts him will have an interesting debate over how to use him.
Peppers isn’t the only notable name taking the field on Monday. The cornerback class is particularly deep this year, with Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore, Washington’s Sidney Jones, Alabama’s Marlon Humphrey, and Florida’s Teez Tabor all in the first-round conversation.
Ohio State’s Malik Hooker is expected to be the first safety off the board in the draft, but a shoulder injury forced him to miss the workouts. Other safeties like LSU’s Jamal Adams and Washington’s Budda Baker will get chances to shine and perhaps increase their draft stocks with Hooker absent.
Perhaps the event everyone looks most forward to at the combine will also be Monday when NFL Network’s Rich Eisen closes out the festivities with his own 40-yard dash. This will be the 13th straight year Eisen has run the 40 to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year, he finished in 5.94 seconds, his best time yet.
