The NFL draft is one of football’s biggest events. Every year, top-notch players gather to find out where they’ll begin their NFL careers. This year, the draft will take place in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art at Eakins Oval in Philadelphia. The first round started on Thursday, April 27 at 8 p.m. ET.

We didn’t have to wait long for the first surprise of the night. After the Browns took Myles Garrett first overall, the Bears traded up to acquire the 49ers’ second overall pick to select boom-or-bust quarterback prospect Mitchell Trubisky. Time will tell if he’s worth the risk, but their fans were not amused.

You can watch the NFL draft on the NFL Network or ESPN. If you plan to watch the event online, you can stream it on NFL.com or Watch ESPN.

Twenty-one players, including Jamal Adams, Marshon Lattimore, Mitchell Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, and Leonard Fournette, will be in Philadelphia to hear their names called.

Adams and Lattimore headline a deep defensive back draft class. Teams like the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers, and Buffalo Bills all need upgrades in their secondaries, and many of the top defensive backs won’t make it past the first round.

Teams in the first round have 10 minutes to select a player. The Cleveland Browns are up first and will be one team to keep an eye on. Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett is considered the best player in this draft class, and the Browns are widely expected to use the first pick on him. But Cleveland also has a huge hole at the quarterback position. The Browns could address that need by selecting Trubisky or Watson. They also have the No. 12 pick, so if they decide to draft a quarterback, they could roll the dice and hope one is still waiting for them.

Two other teams, the New Orleans Saints and Titans, have a pair of first-round picks. The Saints have the No. 11 pick as well as the No. 32 pick, which they got from the Patriots in exchange for trading receiver Brandin Cooks to New England.

The Titans will first pick at No. 5, courtesy of last year’s draft trade with the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams moved up to draft quarterback Jared Goff, surrendering their 2017 first-round pick in the process.

The Rams won’t be on the clock Thursday, but keep an eye on them. They have a history of making some blockbuster trades before or in the draft. The Patriots and Minnesota Vikings will also sit out the first round, unless they trade up.

Even if there’s not a big trade, the first day of the draft usually brings a good deal of excitement. Here’s how to watch it unfold.
