It only took 20 minutes at the 2017 NFL Draft for the Chicago Bears to make a splash. Two of them, in fact.
Bears traded up to select UNC QB Mitchell Trubisky, and their fans were not amused
Chicago gave up a lot for a third-team All-ACC passer.

First, the franchise swung a deal with the San Francisco 49ers to move up from the No. 3 to the No. 2 spot in the draft order. Then, they threw draft pundits everywhere a curveball by drafting North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the draft’s second pick.
The move came less than two months after signing Mike Glennon to a three-year, $45 million deal to audition as the team’s QB of the future. Needless to say, Bears fans were ... confused, to say the least.
The 49ers received the No. 3, No. 67, and No. 111 picks in this year’s draft in exchange for Trubisky, along with a third-round pick next spring. With the third overall pick, San Francisco selected the player most pundits assumed the Bears would select — Stanford defensive lineman Solomon Thomas.
