College prospects selected on Day 3 of the NFL draft have the potential to transform into solid players at the next level, but they might need more time to develop and sharpen their skills. They may not contribute to their respective teams right away, but they could in a couple of seasons.

Day 3 draft picks have the potential to blossom into quality NFL-caliber players.

Day 3 selections start at 12 p.m. ET on the NFL Network and ESPN. If you want to follow the action online, live streams are also available at NFL.com or WatchESPN.
After the first three rounds, several big names are still on the board. Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson is still waiting to hear his name called, as is Florida defensive tackle Caleb Brantley. There was a run on cornerbacks on Day 2, but teams still in need of help in the secondary could grab Iowa’s Desmond King or Miami’s Corn Elder. Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine was projected as a third-rounder, so some team may grab him early on Day 3.
Players selected in Rounds 4-7 have the potential to be game-changers, but they need the right system and coaches to tap into it. Current NFL stars Tom Brady and Antonio Brown were late-round selections, and they are two of the best players in the NFL.
As the draft winds down, look for teams to select a few players you’ve never heard of. On the other hand, those unknown players could one day be franchise cornerstones.
