Spread picks for every NFL game in Week 6

I’ve got five picks against the spread I’m feeling strongest about in Week 6, and then a pick for the remaining 10 games.

We’re back for Week 6 of the 2018 NFL season, and we opened things with an ugly matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. The Giants had some opportunities early, but things got out of hand en route to 34-13 Eagles victory on Thursday Night Football. Saquon Barkley is looking like a stud running back, but not much else is going right for the G-Men.

The return of football means fantasy football and gambling are back in our lives. There is nothing quite like a little football gambling to make games that much more exciting. This season, I am taking part in the Westgate SuperContest. SB Nation’s partners over at Odds Shark are sponsoring my entry again. The contest requires selecting five games each week and picking them against the spread.

I’ll be offering up all five SuperContest entries each week, along with picks against the spread for every game each week. I put together a 2-2-1 performance in Week 5, and went 8-6-1 for for my total picks. I’m now 13-10-2 for the year in the SuperContest. Here are my SuperContest entries for Week 6.

VIKINGS (-10) over Cardinals

Double digit favorites are usually to be avoided in the SuperContest, but I have a feeling about this one. Last week, the Cardinals upset the 49ers, winning 28-18. And yet, the 49ers could have won the game with ease. The 49ers doubled up Arizona in total yards and tripled them up in first downs. It was five turnovers (two strip sacks, two interceptions and a fumble) that were the difference in this game. Kirk Cousins is considerably better than C.J. Beathard, which alone could be enough. However, he also has more serious weapons in the passing game, and he’s backed by a stout Vikings defense. The Cardinals could very well surprise them and keep this game close, particularly with Minnesota coming off a close road win over the Eagles. But this looks like a game the Vikings can win with relative ease.

WASHINGTON (-1) over Panthers

Washington was a big disappointment in New Orleans last week, after a solid history of success there. Alex Smith struggled to get anything going, but he has a solid history of rebounding after bad efforts. Add in facing a Panthers defense that struggles with explosive plays, and Washington has a good shot here.

Buccaneers (+3.5) over FALCONS

The one road team I’m taking is a squad in transition. Jameis Winston replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback in Week 4, and has had a bye week to get ready for the Falcons. He’s had a lot of success historically against Atlanta, and if O.J. Howard is healthy, could chew up the middle of that beleaguered Falcons defense.

BRONCOS (+6.5) over Rams

The Rams are rolling right now, and have all but locked up the NFC West. However, this is the ideal situation for Denver to keep it close. It’s an inter-conference matchup sandwiched by divisional games. The Broncos have played well at home, including a near upset of the Kansas City Chiefs behind a solid defensive effort. Oh, and it’s supposed to be near freezing with a chance of snow. We’ll see how the Rams handle a drastic change in weather.

TITANS (+2.5) over Ravens

This matchup features two teams coming off tough Week 5 road losses — Baltimore lost in overtime to Cleveland, while Tennessee lost in the closing seconds on a field goal. The Titans offense is struggling to find consistency, but with a new offensive coordinator and Marcus Mariota working his way back from injury, this is a spot for them to shine. I’ll take the points at home.

Here are all my picks for Week 6:

GIANTS vs. Eagles (-3): Eagles — LOSS
VIKINGS vs. Cardinals (+10): Vikings
BROWNS vs. Chargers (-1): Browns
DOLPHINS vs. Bears (-3): Dolphins
WASHINGTON vs. Panthers (+1): Washington
JETS vs. Colts (+2.5): Jets
BENGALS vs. Steelers (+2.5): Steelers
FALCONS vs. Buccaneers (+3.5): Buccaneers
Seahawks vs. Raiders (+3 — London): Seahawks
TEXANS vs. Bills (+9.5): Bills
BRONCOS vs. Rams (-6.5): Broncos
COWBOYS vs. Jaguars (-3): Cowboys
TITANS vs. Ravens (-2.5): Titans
PATRIOTS vs. Chiefs (+3.5): Patriots
PACKERS vs. 49ers (+9.5): Packers
