Spread picks for every NFL game in Week 8

I’ve got five picks against the spread I’m feeling strongest about in Week 8, and then a pick for the remaining games.

We’re back for Week 8 of the 2018 NFL season, and we opened things with a hideous affair in the desert that cost offensive coordinator Mike McCoy his job. The Denver Broncos thumped the Arizona Cardinals 45-10 on Thursday Night Football. Nothing went right for Arizona on either side of the ball, and Byron Leftwich is now the new OC.

The return of football means fantasy football and gambling are back in our lives. There is nothing quite like a little football gambling to make games that much more exciting. This season, I am taking part in the Westgate SuperContest. SB Nation’s partners over at Odds Shark are sponsoring my entry again. The contest requires selecting five games each week and picking them against the spread.

I’ll be offering up all five SuperContest entries each week, along with picks against the spread for every game each week. I put together a 2-3 performance in Week 7, and went 8-5-1 for for my total picks — both the second straight such performance for me. I’m now 17-15-3 for the year in the SuperContest. Here are my SuperContest entries for Week 8.

Jaguars (+3) over Eagles: The London early game always has the potential for things to get weird. This is a battle of desperate teams, but the Jaguars have the better upside. Through seven weeks, the Jaguars rank third in adjusted net yards per play, while the Eagles are 29th. Carson Wentz and company are struggling to get on track, and this seems like a bounce-back spot for Jacksonville.

Ravens (-2) over PANTHERS: The Panthers got a huge win over Philadelphia, while Baltimore lost a tough one to New Orleans. The Ravens are sixth in adjusted net yards per play, and this is a good spot for them to spring the upset. They bring a much better defense to challenge Cam Newton, and their deep game is going to come right at the Panthers from go.

GIANTS (PK) over Washington: The Giants traded two veterans this past week, and the world is going to jump all over their opponents. Washington is coming off back-to-back big wins over Carolina Dallas, but is still inconsistent. This seems like a sport where they trip up on the road.

49ers (-1) over CARDINALS: Three weeks ago, the 49ers doubled up the Cardinals in yards and tripled them up in first downs. San Francisco lost because their offense turned the ball over five times and their defense got no takeaways. I don’t think we see that this time.

VIKINGS (PK) over Saints: The Saints got a huge win last week, but this is their fourth road game in six weeks. Minnesota is dealing with a host of injuries, but this is a big opportunity for them to get back on track against a potentially worn out Saints squad.

Here are all my picks for Week 8:

TEXANS vs. Dolphins (+7.5): Dolphins — LOSS
Eagles vs. Jaguars (+3 — London): Jaguars
STEELERS vs. Browns (+8): Browns
CHIEFS vs. Broncos (+10): Broncos
BEARS vs. Jets (+7): Jets
GIANTS vs. Washington (PK): Giants
LIONS vs. Seahawks (+3): Seahawks
BENGALS vs. Buccaneers (+4.5): Buccaneers
PANTHERS vs. Ravens (-2): Ravens
RAIDERS vs. Colts (-3): Raiders
CARDINALS vs. 49ers (-1): 49ers
RAMS vs. Packers (+9.5): Rams
VIKINGS vs. Saints (PK): Vikings
BILLS vs. Patriots (-13.5): Patriots
