Where are the players who were involved in the Minneapolis Miracle now?

With the Saints and Vikings squaring off again, let’s check in on those who gave us one of the most unforgotten moments in NFL history.

The Minneapolis Miracle (or, if you prefer, the Minnesota Miracle) was one of the most electrifying moments in NFL history. The Saints were seconds away from a trip to the NFC Championship game, up 24-23 on the Vikings. The game felt over. Then Stefon Diggs happened.

Diggs caught a prayer over the head of Saints safety Marcus Williams, before running into the end zone as time expired for the Vikings’ shocking 29-24 win.

The rematch between the Vikings and the Saints is set for Sunday night, nine months after that unforgettable moment. While the stakes obviously aren’t as high this time around in the regular season, it’s still the biggest game of Week 8, with two contenders facing off. So we thought it’d be a fun little exercise to look at where the people involved with the Minneapolis Miracle are now.

Where are they now?

Stefon Diggs: Still in Minnesota. Still balling. Diggs was the recipient of a five-year, $72 million deal in the offseason from the Vikings. Diggs hasn’t been as productive as his teammate Adam Thielen, but he’s still on pace for over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

Jarius Wright: Wright was the teammate who picked up the ball after Diggs walked into the end zone.

Wright reunited with former Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner in Carolina when Turner was hired there this offseason. With the Panthers, Wright has almost as many yards from scrimmage this season as he did last year in Minnesota.

Case Keenum: Keenum is the quarterback who threw the famed pass to Diggs. After the Vikings opted to land free agent Kirk Cousins rather than re-sign Keenum, he inked a two-year, $6 million deal with the Denver Broncos. Keenum threw just seven interceptions for the Vikings last season in the best year of his career. But he’s surpassed that total already with nine interceptions in seven games for the Broncos.

Jerick McKinnon: McKinnon ran down the field and hugged Diggs as he was celebrating in the end zone.

During free agency, the running back signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, but he unfortunately tore his ACL before the season started.

Marcus Williams: Williams has bounced back nicely for the Saints after blowing the tackle on the Minneapolis Miracle. The second-year safety has 19 tackles and one interception in six games played this year.

Ken Crawley: When Marcus Williams dove for the ball, he ended up taking out Ken Crawley on his way down — giving Diggs a free run towards the end zone. Crawley is still with the Saints, but his playing time might be taking a hit with the Saints’ recent trade for Eli Apple.

P.J. Williams: Williams was covering a route near the line of scrimmage while the chaos ensued. Williams is still with the Saints this season, playing 54 percent of their defensive snaps so far.

Pat Shurmur: Shurmur was hired by the New York Giants as their head coach after spending 2017 as the offensive coordinator for the Vikings. Since the Giants’ season is essentially over at 1-6, Shurmur probably wishes he was back in Minnesota playing competitive football.
