Clear your calendar, lock the door, charge your phone. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. ET, and you’ll want to stay on top of a day that could have a lot of action ... or none. It really all depends on how aggressive general managers want to be.
Receivers are getting the most attention. The Texans acquired Demaryius Thomas from the Broncos for a fourth-round pick.
Golden Tate, Devante Parker and others have all been mentioned as trade candidates, with teams like the Patriots and Eagles interested in acquiring one. Defensive players could be on the move too, especially now that the New York Giants have ventured into rebuilding mode.
The NFL trade deadline used to be a sleepy affair, but that’s changing thanks to the league’s ever-growing salary cap, team-friendly rookie contracts and more pressure than ever to win now. Last year’s deadline saw a franchise quarterback, a No. 1 receiver and a starting running back all get moved. This year’s could be just as busy. Hell, it already has been.
Trades already completed
A week before the deadline, the Raiders made headlines for another trade, shipping wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for a first-round pick. The New York Giants kicked off a rebuilding project by trading cornerback Eli Apple to the Saints and defensive tackle Damon Harrison to the Lions.
And those are just the most recent moves. The action started all the way back in September with Jon Gruden’s disastrous decision to send pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Bears. Later that month, the Browns sent talented but troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon to the Patriots.
Trade rumors
The Patriots might not be done shopping for receivers. New England is reportedly open for business and willing to spend a premium in draft picks to acquire a big time receiver. One name being mentioned is Denver’s Demaryius Thomas, who was drafted during Josh McDaniels’ short-lived tenure as head coach there.
Other receivers thought to be on the block include DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Devante Parker.
Running backs could get some attention too. LeSean McCoy and Le’Veon Bell have both been regulars on the rumor mill lately. You can follow all the trade rumors right here.

The 2018 NFL season is rife with parity. Halfway through the season, 24 teams have between three and six wins, and with the exception of some clearly rebuilding franchises — the Cardinals, Giants, and Raiders foremost among them — nearly everyone is still in the playoff hunt.
But teams looking for a fortune-changing piece to push them to the postseason don’t have much time to add an impact player. The NFL’s trade deadline strikes at 4 p.m. ET on Oct. 30, signaling the end of what’s already been an eventful swap season. October has already seen players like Amari Cooper and Carlos Hyde change teams with more than a week before the deadline hits. More are sure to come, and you can keep up with all the rumors here.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY SportsThis was supposed to be a fun year of midseason NFL trades. Trades involving Carlos Hyde, Eli Apple, and Damon Harrison looked like the appetizer for a buffet of wild wheeling and dealing before the Tuesday deadline.
Ultimately, it didn’t end up being all that exciting. Golden Tate, Demaryius Thomas, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Dante Fowler, Jr., and Ty Montgomery are all on different rosters now. But is it Jerry Jones’ fault we didn’t see any blockbuster deals on Tuesday involving anything more than a third-round pick?
