San Francisco is coming off what is probably its worst game of the season: a very boring and ugly 18-15 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. They’ve already lost twice to the Cardinals this season, and there’s no sign of things getting better.
Oakland will once again look a bit different when they see the field on Thursday, as the team traded away Amari Cooper, the team’s best receiver. They’re in full-on rebuild mode under Gruden, who wants to shape the team his way. Well, the Raiders are 1-7, same as the 49ers, so this one should be ... interesting?

- Even worse on the injury front, the 49ers have ruled out Reuben Foster and Jaquiski Tartt for Thursday’s game.
- For the Raiders, both starting corners are listed as questionable for Thursday’s game.
- Not only did the Raiders trade Cooper, there are reports that he wanted out of Oakland and that the team’s faith in Derek Carr crumbled.
- And since the Raiders are getting rid of everyone, why not add some retirements to that list? Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie announced his retirement.
- In a corresponding move, the Raiders called up James Cowser from the practice squad to take Rodgers-Cromartie’s place.
- Stopping the pass rush has been an issue for the 49ers. Fortunately, the Raiders are terrible in that area.
