What all 32 NFL teams should be thankful for this Thanksgiving

It’s Thanksgiving, and every NFL has at least one thing they can be thankful for, even the Raiders!

Thanksgiving is a high holiday for football fans. It’s a day to eat, reflect, eat more, watch football all day, be thankful and eat even more. In the spirit of the holiday, we’ve rounded up one thing that fans of every team can be thankful for, even Raiders fans!

Having 32 helpful football talking points at your fingertips also gives you an easy way to change the subject at the dinner table too. Win-win!

Arizona Cardinals: You have a better offense than the Bills, according to Football Outsiders DVOA. Better still, you’ve got a top 10 defense. Signs of improvement!

Related

Atlanta Falcons: Quintorris Lopez Jones. Remember how worried y’all were when he didn’t have a touchdown through the first seven games of the season? Now, he’s got one in each of his last three. Julio Jones ALWAYS delivers. And when the season isn’t really going your way, look who’s out there laying hits on defensive backs like this.

Don’t worry about what you could have. Be thankful for the beautiful people and things you do have, like Julio Jones.

Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson says the Ravens are going to be throwing this week. If he throws it as well as he ran it in Week 11, his first NFL start, this offense could be downright exciting for the first time in years.

Buffalo Bills: Fireball. Both the drink and the brief explosion created by dumping a friend through a flaming folding table.

Carolina Panthers: Nobody knew what to expect when Norv Turner signed on as the offensive coordinator. If anything it looked like a poor fit with Cam Newton. Nope. Newton’s got the highest completion percentage of his career, 68.5 percent, by a long shot, he’s throwing it as far as he ever has and he’s still a threat to run (four rushing scores).

Chicago Bears: Jon Gruden’s incompetence gave you one of the best defensive players in the league and put you right on top of the NFC North. Raise a glass to the Raiders’ misery!

Cincinnati Bengals: What would the Bengals do if they didn’t have Marvin Lewis to fire Teryl Austin and step in as defensive coordinator? In his fist game calling the Bengals defense, Lewis’ unit gave up 403 yards to the Lamar Jackson-led Ravens, 265 of which came on the ground. That’s the most rushing yards allowed by the Bengals defense in Lewis’ 16 years as head coach and the eighth most in franchise history.

Cleveland Browns: Hue Jackson is gone. Baker Mayfield looks like the read thing. You’ve won multiple games for the first time since 2015 and got free beer-adjacent beverages in the process.

Dallas Cowboys: The NFC East is now yours to lose. Don’t blow it!

Denver Broncos: Last week’s win over the Chargers may have saved your season. At 4-6, the Broncos are very much alive in the AFC wild card chase.

Detroit Lions: Last week’s win over the Panthers keeps your playoff hopes alive. Keep it up!

Green Bay Packers: Years of squandering Aaron Rodgers in his prime may finally be coming to an end. Head coach Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat, and it stems in part from a widening gulf between him and Rodgers over how the offense should run ... that and the losing.

Houston Texans: For starters, a seven-game win streak is pretty nice. For seconds, the toughest game left on the schedule is probably a Week 14 date with the Colts. You’re going to the playoffs.

Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck is slowly looking like Andrew Luck again, Eric Ebron’s redemption tour set up camp in Indiana, and the AFC South remains a sloppy, winnable cauldron of confusion.

Jacksonville Jaguars: There’s always next year!

Kansas City Chiefs: Yeah, it was a tough loss to the Rams, but you still have the best offense in the league. And in today’s NFL that’s pretty much all you need to go places. Just look at these numbers:

Not only have the Chiefs made every game they play appointment viewing, Andy Reid and Co. are basically reinventing how the game is played.

Los Angeles Chargers: That loss to the Broncos last week hurts, but you get a nice rebound game against the Cardinals this week. A win in Week 12 puts you at 8-3 and in the driver’s seat for a wild card bid.

Los Angeles Rams: You beat the Chiefs. And in all likelihood, you’re going to see the Saints again, just try to make sure it’s on your turf.

Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill is healthy again, and whatever your opinion of him as a franchise starter, he’s at least better than Brock Osweiler.

Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins’ contract expires after 2020, and Case Keenum turned back into a pumpkin anyway. And no matter what, you’ve always got the Minneapolis Miracle.

New England Patriots: Be thankful for a season that includes a dose humility. It’s not often the Patriots get so easily left out of the conversation for the NFL’s best teams.

New Orleans Saints: You literally have it all, so be thankful for that. And remember, two years ago this team was stuck at 7-9 and living in salary cap hell.

New York Giants: In a tough season, there’s still plenty to be thankful for. Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley are having great seasons. Together, they’ll be the nucleus of a fantastic offense down the road. Just need a ... well, never mind, this is a day of thanks.

New York Jets: Um ... thinking ... Well, the defense is pretty close to shutting opponents down on third downs with a 31.3 percent success rate. That’s good enough for third best in the NFL.

Oakland Raiders: Draft picks! LOTS of them!

Philadelphia Eagles: You’re the defending Super Bowl champs. Just savor that for another few months, and things will rebound nicely in 2019.

Pittsburgh Steelers: The Le’Veon Bell saga is over, and his absence doesn’t seem to have negatively impacted the team on the field at all. James Conner doing a lot more than just filling in too. He’s got 1,207 yards from scrimmage, 10 rushing touchdowns and a cap-friendly contract. There’s this too:

San Francisco 49ers: C.J. Beathard, Nick Mullens ... sure it’s hard to be without Jimmy Garoppolo, but Kyle Shanahan’s uncanny knack for turning anonymous backups into temporary NFL starters truly is something to be thankful for.

Seattle Seahawks: No matter what, y’all have Russell Wilson. There are probably other things to be thankful for, if you look hard enough, but Wilson’s the centerpiece on that table.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: When FitzMagic works, it works. And it’s at least entertaining.

Tennessee Titans: However the season ultimately turns out, you beat the Patriots ... by 24 points! Nobody’s beaten the Patriots by 24 or more points since September 2014.

Washington: Colt McCoy’s the starting quarterback now, and maybe that’s okay. If Alex Smith proved anything it’s that careers can be salvaged, even for quarterbacks in their 30s.
