Week 10 NFL Survivor strategy and picks

It was another quiet week in Week 9, with only some modest upsets to shake up Survivor pools. We’re back to provide some tips to stay alive this week.

Welcome back for Week 10 of the NFL season! If you are still alive in your Survivor pool, congratulations! Week 9 was another quiet week, with only a couple possible upsets. Washington lost to the Atlanta Falcons, while the Los Angeles Rams lost on the road to the New Orleans Saints. This week brings some huge favorites, with four double digit spreads on the docket.

For those new to the contest, a Survivor pool involves picking one team each week that you think will win. If your team wins in Week 1, you can make a pick in Week 2. If your team wins in Week 2, you can make a pick in Week 3, and so on. The catch is that you cannot pick a team twice. You could very well use a heavy favorite in Week 1, but you won’t have access to them later in the year if you’re alive in the closing weeks.

There is plenty of strategy in determining which team you will take each week, and SB Nation is here to help. We’ll take a look at the safest choices, best value picks, and then two trap picks.

Safest picks

Kansas City Chiefs over Arizona Cardinals

There are some valuable Chiefs games remaining, but this might be the time to finally pull the trigger if you have not yet. They very well could be caught looking ahead to their Week 11 showdown with the Rams, but the Chiefs should roll Arizona.

Best value

Chicago Bears over Detroit Lions
New York Jets over Buffalo Bills

The Jets are not a pretty pick, but the Bills are a disaster. If you want to keep saving some big names, that might be your pick. The Bears have questions with Mitchell Trubisky, but the defense is still strong enough to take care of business. There are not many good options on Chicago’s schedule, so it might be time to use them.

Trap picks

Los Angeles Rams over Seattle Seahawks
Green Bay Packers over Miami Dolphins

These are letdown and potentially lookahead spots for both teams. The Rams lost a tough one in New Orleans in Week 9, and head to Mexico City to face the Chiefs in Week 11. The Packers lost a tough one to the Patriots in Week 9, and travel to face Seattle in Week 11. Both should win these games, but be wary.
