Justin Timberlake, the former *NSYNC lead singer, is performing the Super Bowl 52 halftime show on Sunday in Minneapolis. Every Super Bowl halftime show comes with a rumor mill about potential surprise guests. We don’t know who, if anyone, will join Timberlake in a surprise cameo on Sunday. But here’s one idea: *NSYNC, or some combination of the five-man boy band that gripped the world 20 years ago.
*NSYNC’s Joey Fatone spotted in Minneapolis ahead of Justin Timberlake’s halftime show
He claims there’s no reunion coming. That’s fine.

One of the *NSYNC boys, Joey Fatone, was spotted in town:
That’s a “Minnesota Super Bowl 2018” geotag on Instagram, which I’ve verified is real. Fatone has clearly been in the Twin Cities ahead of the game.
Further evidence is here:
Fatone vehemently denies that an *NSYNC reunion is in the cards on Sunday. He went so far as to bet a TMZ reporter $1,000 that it wouldn’t happen.
“Do you see any of the other guys?” Fatone asked.
“Give me that fucking money right now,” Fatone told the reporter when he agreed to his suggestion of a bet. He insisted that it wouldn’t be happening.
On the one hand, Fatone sounds really serious.
On the other hand, that’s exactly what someone would tell him to sound like before a Super Bowl halftime show *NSYNC reunion actually happened.
Timberlake has not formally put the kibosh on rumors of an *NSYNC reunion.
“To be honest, I had a ton of grand ideas about special guests,” he continued. “We talked about it a lot. There’s a whole list — I think Vegas has a lot of odds on it, I heard. From *NSYNC to Jay [Z] to Chris Stapleton to Janet, but this year I’m just excited — my band, the Tennessee Kids, I feel like they’re my special guests and I’m excited this year to rock the stage. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
That is not a denial, though Timberlake kind of danced around the issue and tried to make it sound like *NSYNC wouldn’t show up. Maybe it won’t happen. But I won’t be fully convinced it’s not happening until it, in fact, doesn’t happen.
A Super Bowl prop bet deals with the question of whether any *NSYNC members will perform with Timberlake. Las Vegas doesn’t expect that any will, putting -500 moneyline odds on nobody joining him from his former band. The odds of at least a partial reunion are at +300, meaning you could win $300 on a $100 bet that it happens.
