Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst is out of NFL Combine drills after he was diagnosed with a heart condition, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Hurst was one of the best interior defensive linemen in college football last season, when he was a veteran leader in Michigan’s front. Hurst is adept at generating pressure on quarterbacks from the middle of the line, and that skill has put him in line to be taken early in April’s NFL Draft. Most projections have had Hurst going in the first or second round.

Hurst was scheduled to do the bench press and hold a press conference with reporters in Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon. His group of defensive linemen underwent testing at a local hospital on Friday, a standard part of the combine-week schedule. When the league took his measurements on Friday, Hurst was 6’1 and 292 pounds.

This isn’t the first time a player has been diagnosed with a heart condition at the combine. Former Utah defensive lineman Star Lotulelei got a similar-sounding diagnosis in 2013 and was later cleared.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available on Hurst’s condition.
