The 49ers and the Steelers are going to be bringing back a pair of classics this season. The 49ers will be wearing their threads from the 1980s when they were dominating the NFL, while the Steelers will be rocking theirs inspired by the 1978-79 uniform (Iowa stole from them).
7 NFL jerseys that need to make a comeback
Even if only for a moment.

With those in mind, here are some other uniforms that need to make a comeback, either as a one-time event, or even permanently.
The Seahawks’ originals
The Seahawks basically wore these until 2002, and it’s a clean look, considering jerseys are made with a much higher quality today:
These uniforms weren’t super attractive or anything back in the day. But if they were manufactured by Nike today, the Seahawks would look great in this color scheme and number design.
If there was going to be one tweak to these, they could stick with their current logo as opposed to the old, less-intimidating Seahawk. Their current uniforms are fine, not great. At the very least, we need to see these at least as an alternate at some point.
The Falcons can go back to black ... again
The Falcons’ uniform change in 2004 was cool — it brought a refreshing new logo that was fierce, along with updated jerseys for a team with a quarterback who was nothing like we’d seen before in Michael Vick.
Full disclosure: I’m a Falcons fan. I loved those new uniforms. As the years have gone on, I’ve missed the old Falcons uniforms more and more. The basic numbers, the old logo, and the black jerseys (take your pick of white or silver britches, though I prefer silver).
Similar to the Seahawks throwbacks above — and really any on this list — the Nike production makes the look 110 percent sharper.
Kelly green!
Eagles fans know that these are straight fire. When they brought them back in 2010, they were a hit, and for good reason:
These would have to serve as alternates. There was talk that the Eagles could perhaps go back to the kelly green permanently after they wore these. But after winning this past year’s Super Bowl, the Eagles can’t really change back, even if they wanted to.
Winning the Super Bowl in a uniform adds sentimental value to them, even if there might be better options. So if I had to guess, the Eagles would have to go through a decade or so of being a dumpster fire before they’d reconsider going back to these. But for now, they could serve as a solid alternative.
The Rams can’t go wrong with anything old
The Rams are in a uniform rut right now. They changed the hold horns on their helmet to white, but not the rest of the gold on the uniform. If the uniform was loading, it’s buffering at 10 percent.
It makes for a terrible look when they wear their navy uniforms. So the Rams could finish wiping out that gold when they unveil new uniforms along with their new stadium in 2020, or they could go back to this look:
That’s a classic Rams look. If those don’t tickle your fancy, substitute the yellow with the white to give a true OG Rams look, and even that works. But everything after that can get lost.
The Rams should be one of the best teams in the NFC next season, but stylistically, they won’t for most of the season. That is of course, until they’re wearing the above threads and hat.
The Vikings have some of the cleanest throwbacks in the NFL
The Vikings’ current uniforms are good. They have a modern look that doesn’t do too much. However, we need these to get back in the rotation:
If these look familiar, it’s probably because you remember a 40-year-old Brett Favre play a few games in them while having arguably the best year of his career. It was a fun Vikings team that would lose to eventual Super Bowl champion (the Bountygate) Saints.
The Saints have one of the most timeless looks
Speaking of the Saints, look at these:
Again, I’m a Falcons fan. I can be petty, as I was above in mentioning Bountygate. But one thing I won’t deny, is that this is an incredibly clean look. The only way these could get better is if the Saints go with a gold helmet that’s closer to the uniform — or even better — goes with actual gold helmets like Notre Dame.
I’m a big believer of “look good, play good,” though the Saints still lost to the Falcons wearing these last year.
OK, now I’m done being petty.
Browns, please, just go back to what you had
The Browns have the worst uniforms in the NFL. Most of these uniforms are fine as a one-off, and would also do fine as a permanent replacement.
But the Browns need to get back to basics. It’s not like there’s a ton you can do with brown and orange and no logo.
Keep it simple. Change the jerseys back.
