The Super Bowl 53 matchup is set after a wild Conference Championship Sunday, and we get a rematch of the game the started a dynasty. The Los Angeles Rams will face the New England Patriots at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. These two teams squared off 17 years ago in Super Bowl 36, a game in which the Patriots were 14-point underdogs and won on a last-second Adam Vinatieri field goal. It’s worth noting the Rams were based in St. Louis for that game.
Rams open as slim favorite against Patriots, but line quickly moves for Super Bowl 53

This time around, the Rams are in Los Angeles and opened as modest favorites — with the initial line set at one point. It quickly dropped to pick ‘em, and has now swung to Patriots -2 on Sunday evening.
A lookahead line had the Rams a field goal favorite shortly after they beat the Saints, but the Patriots strong showing in Kansas City has early public support behind them. The Rams are 9-7-2 against the spread this season, while the Patriots are 11-7 against the spread.
The point total has been set at 57.5. This matches the pre-game point total for Super Bowl 51, which is the highest in Super Bowl history. In that game, the Patriots stormed back from a 28-3 deficit to defeat the Falcons 34-28 and hit the over. In 18 games this season, both teams have seen the point total go over eight times, under nine times, and push once.
