Julian Edelman caught 10 passes for 141 yards to win the Super Bowl MVP award, helping the New England Patriots to a 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night in Atlanta.

The game was the lowest-scoring Super Bowl of all time, beating the old record of 21 points by the perfect Dolphins over Washington 14-7 in Super Bowl VII.

But in a game that featured a combined 14 punts and almost no offense, Edelman was a constant throughout the night, catching 10 of the 12 passes thrown his way.

“I was just trying to go out and have a good week of practice and do my job. Sometimes the cookie crumbles that way,” Edelman told Jim Nantz on the field after the win. “It was a crazy year. We had a resilient bunch of guys, it was unreal.”

Edelman caught 74 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns for New England this season, coming back after missing the 2017 season with a torn ACL. Edelman missed the first four games of 2018 after getting suspended for performance enhancing drugs.

Sony Michel scored the game’s only touchdown, and ran for 94 yards on 18 carries. Tom Brady, who owns a record four Super Bowl MVP awards, passed for 262 yards, and his six career Super Bowl wins is more than 30 NFL franchises.

Edelman is the first wide receiver be named Super Bowl MVP since the Steelers’ Santonio Holmes in Super Bowl 43. He is the second Patriots receiver to win the award, after Deion Branch in Super Bowl XXXIX.
