We all assumed CBS’ introduction for Super Bowl LIII was going to be disappointing, but then Peyton Manning came in and did a comedy spot that was legitimately hilarious.
I legit laughed at Peyton Manning and John Malkovich doing the Super Bowl intro
This was hilarious!

It starts with a rote, played out gladiatorial battle motif — and then transcends cliche with Peyton proving his comedy chops by pitching his idea for the introduction to the Super Bowl. Soon everything descends into madness with John Malkovich entering a conference call from the Colosseum in Rome where he’s chided by Manning for mistaking chicken parm with veal parm.
Peyton’s penchant for comedy shouldn’t surprise anyone after his amazing performances on Saturday Night Live over the years, but teaming up with Malkovich’s grand seriousness is sublime.
Every week NFL broadcasts try and do comedy and fail, but this was perfection.
