Tom Brady haaates being called the GOAT, even after his sixth Super Bowl win

Brady isn’t buying that he’s the greatest of all time.

No matter what his accolades and career achievements are, Tom Brady doesn’t like being referred to as the GOAT. Even after claiming his sixth Super Bowl in a 13-3 win against the Rams, Brady still isn’t warming up to the idea that he’s greatest quarterback in NFL history.

In an interview with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, Brady said he would rather be doubted that have his greatness proclaimed.

“I guess I take compliments worse than I take [criticism]. I wish you would say, ‘You’re trash. You’re too old. You’re too slow. You can’t get it done no more.’ And I would say, ‘Thank you very much. I’m going to go prove you wrong.’”

Maybe Brady keeps telling himself this to keep himself competitive — the Patriots are 8-1 as betting underdogs since 2014.

This isn’t the first time that Brady has objected to being referred to as the GOAT. After the Patriots defeated the Falcons in Super Bowl 51, Brady had a similar message for people saying he was the greatest:

“I know myself as a player. I’m really a product of what I’ve been around, who I was coached by, what I played against, in the era I played in. I really believe if a lot of people were in my shoes they could accomplish the same kinds of things. So I’ve been very fortunate.”

Brady may not consider himself the greatest quarterback to ever play in the NFL, but with the nine Super Bowl appearances, eight straight AFC Championship Game appearances, and six Super Bowl trophies, he’ll have a hard time staving off the compliments he has grown to dislike.
