Who will win the Super Bowl? Our bloggers make the case for the Chiefs and Bucs

After two weeks of hype, it feels like every storyline for Super Bowl 2021 has already been exhausted. How will the Chiefs offensive line hold up after Eric Fisher’s injury? How will the Bucs secondary slow down Kansas City’s slew of explosive offensive weapons? Can Tom Brady, at age-43, really win one more Super Bowl?

These questions and many more are about to be answered when the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers kick off at approximately 6:30 p.m. on CBS. At this point, only question truly matters: who’s going to win?

We asked our Chiefs community Arrowhead Pride to tell us why Kansas City is going to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Our own James Dator made the case for the Bucs. For more coverage on Tampa Bay, check out our Bucs Nation community.

The Chiefs will win because of the overwhelming dominance of their passing attack. Especially with the return of Sammy Watkins, a high-volume game with two weeks of preparation by Andy Reid will just be too much for a talented, but young secondary that is slightly banged up.

They may choose to bracket Tyreek Hill with two defenders, but Travis Kelce will take advantage by dominating the middle of the field under deep Hill routes. Clyde Edwards-Helaire could also be unleashed as a receiver.

I believe Kelce will have a good enough day to earn some Super Bowl MVP consideration, but Mahomes’ performance will be too impressive to ignore.

I’ve been guilty of counting out the Buccaneers a lot this season because they defy the basic concept that building a championship team takes time, and can’t occur overnight. My doubt is gone now.

Tampa Bay made dozens of small tweaks to their team to in order to support Tom Brady on offense, and revolutionized their defense through the secondary by drafting Antoine Winfield Jr. I’m not going to pretend that if all things were equal the Bucs have the talent to beat the Chiefs, but there is a HUGE wild card now with Eric Fisher being out due to injury.

Kansas City’s offensive line will be under tremendous pressure by Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaquil Barrett, with Vita Vea and Ndamukong Suh muscling the middle. Yes, Patrick Mahomes is incredible at passing under pressure — but so is Aaron Rodgers, and we saw how that goes.

In the end I have to side with defense when it comes to a defense vs. offense game, and I think Tom Brady still has enough in the tank to make one more run for a ring.

David Harrison’s Bold Prediction: My last bold predictions of the year. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin receive fifteen or more targets without a drop between them, and one of them goes for 153-yards or more.

Bailey Adams’ Bold Prediction: Tom Brady will throw for 350-plus yards and three-plus touchdowns without turning the ball over. And if he can do that, the Bucs will be in a great position to win the game.
