Dre Greenlaw disqualified, Eagles security guard ejected after skirmish in 49ers win

Dre Greenlaw and a Philly secured guard both got ejected during 49ers-Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers’ Week 13 showdown felt like a meeting of the two best teams in the NFC. The Eagles entered at 10-1, somehow finding a way to win week after week despite rarely playing their best football. The 49ers had three losses to their name, but had been looking like the best version of themselves lately with Deebo Samuel back in the lineup.

The 49ers beat the Eagles, 42-19. Philadelphia is still slotted in as the No. 1 seed in the latest playoff projections, but San Francisco looked like the more physical and more athletic team for the afternoon.

A strange incident broke out early in the third quarter after 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw slammed Eagles wide receiver Devonta Smith to the ground. The skirmish broke out between the two teams, and Greenlaw got in the face of Eagles security staffer Dom DiSandro and took a swing at him. Greenlaw was ejected from the game, and DiSandro was kicked out, too. Watch the sequence here:

As the skirmish broke out, DiSandro went over and put his hands on Greenlaw. Greenlaw didn’t like that, and he reacted accordingly. It was a surreal scene to the refs walk over the Eagles sideline, give DiSandro the boot, and escort him off the field.

Here’s what the NFL’s senior vice president of officiating said DiSandro was ejected because he escalated the incident. Here’s his full statement:

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan came after DiSandro with his post-game comments:

Eagles fans have already made DiSandro a hero:

We’ll always have the Dom DiSandro game. We’ll update this story if either Greenlaw or DiSandro faces further punishment.
