The Indianapolis Colts were down to their last shot against the New England Patriots in Week 13. Facing 4th-and-goal on the New England three-yard line, Colts QB Anthony Richardson fired a touchdown pass to Alec Pierce in the corner of the end zone.

An extra point could have tied the game for the Colts. Instead, head coach Shane Steichen went for the win.

Richardson kept the ball in his hands on the two-point conversion. The young QB punched the keeper into the end zone for the go-ahead score, giving the Colts a 25-24 win over New England.

Here’s the game-winning two-point conversion by Richardson:

And here’s the 4th down touchdown pass from Richardson to Pierce:

The Patriots got in position to try an NFL record 68-yard field goal to win the game, but it fell short.

The Colts’ receivers were dropping passes throughout the game, but Pierce came through when his team needed it most. Credit the Indy coaching staff for going for it on the road with the game on the line. It’s a decision that makes you look brilliant if it pays off, or stupid if it fails. Steichen looks like a genius after Richardson converted the two-point conversion.

The Colts move to 6-7 with the win, and stay alive in the AFC Playoff picture.
