Behind-the-scenes video of Shedeur was posted over the weekend with the Colorado QB saying he only plays as the Cleveland Browns when he plays Madden.

This might seem like a nothing comment, but it’s actually pretty revealing. The offensive playbooks in Madden have become more and more like their NFL counterparts over the years, so for Sanders to say he only likes playing as the Browns, likes how they move, and likes their setup — it’s actually a vote of confidence when it comes to Kevin Stefanski’s offense.
There are a lot of similarities between the offense Sanders ran at Colorado, rich with zone running and shotgun formations, and the playbook of the Browns in Madden. Cleveland has 17 formations out of the gun in Madden 25, with the majority of their run plays being on zone blocking schemes.
One of the most common misconceptions about Sanders is that he’s a dual-threat QB, when in reality he’s a prototypical pocket passer with elusiveness, which is why he thrives out of the gun with some time to process the field.
Sanders is already the most polarizing player of the 2025 NFL Draft. Some fans think his 4,134 passing yards, 37 TDs and 10 INTs are indicative of greatness — while others think he’s a product of hype, manufactured by the king of buzz in football: His father, Deion Sanders. Now he’s locked in a battle with Miami’s Cam Ward to see who will be the first quarterback selected in the upcoming draft.
It will be fascinating to see if Shedeur’s love of the Browns in Madden will be reciprocated when the two meet in real life.
