The 2025 NFL Draft season kicks into high gear this week, as the biggest names in the sport descend upon Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine.

One of the most fascinating prospects in the entire draft field, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, has decided to focus on his meetings with teams this week.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Sanders will not throw at the Combine and will focus on his meetings with teams while in Indianapolis. Sanders will throw for teams at Colorado’s Pro Day, which has not yet been scheduled. The Colorado prospect approached the East-West Shrine Game in similar fashion, opting to focus on meeting with teams while not participating in practices or the game itself.

Sanders’ decision is in line with other top quarterbacks in recent draft classes. Last year, for example, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels all opted not to throw in Indianapolis, instead deciding to throw at their respective Pro Day workouts.

While that opened the door for Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy, and Michael Penix Jr. to showcase their arms for NFL scouts in Indianapolis, the three quarterbacks who did not throw were the first three picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Those six quarterbacks all came off the board in the first round last spring.

Throwing in Indianapolis does come with some risk, as each quarterback will be targeting unfamiliar receivers as the bright lights of the NFL evaluation world shine. But with multiple seasons as a starter under his belt — and 1,803 collegiate passing attempts — teams already know what Sanders can do as a passer.
