Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine was all about executives and coaches.
Abdul Carter wants to be the first overall pick in the NFL Draft
Meeting the media at the NFL Combine on Wednesday Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter made his goals clear

Wednesday the focus shifts to the players.
When morning broke over the Indianapolis Convention Center the first group of prospects met with the media, including kickers, defensive linemen, and linebackers. In that group? The prospect that might be the first-overall selection in a few months: Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter.
And as you might expect, Carter’s goal is to be just that:
Carter’s goal might be a bit closer in sight as Wednesday breaks. The NFL world woke up to news out of Tennessee, as the Titans have given permission to pass rusher Harold Landry to seek a trade. Landry posted nine sacks a season ago, and has recorded 31.5 sacks over the last three years.
As you might expect, Carter has met with every team at the top of the draft, including the Titans, the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants, and the New England Patriots. While Carter was complimentary of each organization, he made it clear that his goal is to be the first player off the board:
Carter’s production and film back up his goal to be the first player selected. He posted 12 sacks a season ago, including one in the National Championship Game against Notre Dame. Carter played in that contest while dealing with a shoulder injury, a condition that will keep him out of Combine workouts as he recovers.
Still, Carter pointed to that game when asked about the best film from his college career.
“I feel like I left it all out there.”
We’ll know if the Titans agree soon enough.
