Miami-Dade police are looking for former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown after an arrest warrant was issued on Thursday night for attempted murder.

The warrant stems from a shooting at a celebrity boxing event in Miami in May in which Brown originally said he was the victim of an attempted robbery and released, though new evidence appeared to show Brown was the aggressor in the altercation.

Police attempted to serve Brown with the warrant on Thursday but were unable to locate him. It calls for the former receiver to post a $10,000 bond and be placed under house arrest pending trial, indicating that the courts view Brown as a potential flight risk.

Brown was in Miami on May 16 to attend the boxing event when police were dispatched in response to shots being fired shortly before midnight. Law enforcement observed Brown in the middle of a physical altercation with a man, and was identified as the shooter by witnesses. However, police were unable to find a gun on Brown, and he was eventually released.

In Brown’s version of events the receiver said he was attacked by men trying to steal his jewelry outside the event, however previously unseen video footage was made available to police that showed a different series of events. In it, Brown was alledgedly seen instigating a fight with another man, which incited a melee — he then took the gun of a security officer at the event and chased the individual he was in a fight with, firing shots at him.

The victim claims that after the fight had broken up Brown pursued him with the gun, with one shot grazing his neck. The men then wrestled over the weapon, with the fight breaking up before police arrived.

It’s believed the man Brown allegedly attacked has known the former receiver since 2022.
