The Washington Commanders made a magical run to the NFC Championship Game a season ago, and the pieces look to be in place for another strong campaign. Washington’s selection of Jayden Daniels with the second-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft paid immediate dividends, giving the franchise one of the cheat codes to modern NFL roster construction: The rookie quarterback deal. With a bonanza of cap space entering this offseason, the Commanders added around Daniels, including left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel on the offensive side of the ball and Deatrich Wise, Jonathan Jones, and Will Harris on the defense.

But one of their home-grown players is “frustrated” ahead of training camp regarding his own contract status.

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin, drafted by Washington in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, aired his frustration over his hopes for a contract extension with the team. He signed a three-year extension with the Commanders ahead of the 2022 season, but under the terms of that contract, the 2026 season is a “void” year for him.

Speaking both with the media and on local radio Tuesday, McLaurin addressed his contract status:

“Yeah I’ve been pretty frustrated, I’m not gonna lie,” began McLaurin when speaking with the media. “Everything that has transpired up until this point has been disappointing and frustrating.”

Later on local radio, McLaurin made it clear that he wants to be in Washington, but there have not been any recent contract talks:

However, McLaurin has not made a request for a trade yet.

Commanders veterans are scheduled to report for training camp on Tuesday, July 22.

We’ll see if McLaurin is among them.
