Jake Paul’s Bad Bunny criticism was so stupid even he flip-flopped on it

Breaking: Jake Paul isn’t too smart

Jake Paul was a rollercoaster of emotions on Super Bowl Sunday as the boxer/influencer/hype man went from claiming that Bad Bunny was un-American, to being his No. 1 fan in the span of one night. In the end he seemingly blamed it on a mysterious outside force, which is anyone’s guess if he’s suggesting he was hacked, drunk, or just came to the realization that Jake Paul was doing damage to the most important thing in Jake Paul’s life: His brand.

It started just before 5 p.m. in the lead up to the Super Bowl when Paul posted a call to action to boycott the halftime show of a “fake American citizen.”

Then, as people slammed Paul by telling him that Benito is an American citizen, as all Puerto Ricans are. Even his brother jumped on the train to stand against what Jake said.

Roughly six hours later Jake moved the goal posts, saying people were misinterpreting the word “fake,” which only has one definition — unless you’re trying to walk back your statement.

So Bad Bunny is a “fake citizen,” not because he’s from Puerto Rico, but because of his values and criticizing the country. It’s the kind of grade school understanding of citizenship and patriotism you might expect from someone like Jake Paul. He decided to try and keep tweeting through it.

I guess my only question for Jake Paul here is why he chooses to live in Puerto Rico? Could it be because you get some key benefits of remaining in the United States, while not needing to pay federal income tax?

“If you benefit from a country and the platform it gives you, but publicly disrespect it at the same time, that’s what I mean by being a fake citizen.”

Kind of like becoming a millionaire and getting to make immense amounts of money, but never needing to pay into the system because you’ve chosen to live in a tax shelter? That sounds a whole lot like being a “fake citizen” to me. I mean, you’re not funding ICE here, Jake — because your tax dollars aren’t going to them.

Nobody was buying Jake Paul’s ongoing attempts to explain himself, so he pulled out the Hail Mary “I guess I was hacked” defense.

We know this isn’t some 4D chess crap. Jake Paul is being tongue-in-cheek, trying to say he can’t speak his mind about this over backlash — hoping everyone can read between the lines. Paul didn’t love Bad Bunny before the halftime show, or since, but he’s working overtime to post about how much he loves the artist like he’s a tortured soul.

It’s just pathetic.
