Myles Garrett is a generational pass rusher. However, he was never a team leader and actually hurt the team when he proactively sought a trade after the 2024 season. Best guess is that after he received a record-breaking new contract, he remained vocal behind the scenes about wanting out of Cleveland which is why he is not here. Bottom line, none of this is healthy for team building. Jared Verse may never be as good as MG from a statistical perspective but can easily surpass his value by becoming the vocal team leader that the Browns have lacked for years. The Browns win- loss record with MG during the past few years was awful so he clearly was not the answer. Is a true leader better for the team than a statistical ranking? Time will tell
