NHL Draft 2012: Ottawa Senators Select Cody Ceci With No. 15 Pick

With the No. 15 pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, the Ottawa Senators have selected Cody Ceci, a defenseman from the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League.

Ceci finished the 2011-12 OHL season second among defenseman in points, with 60 (17 goals and 43 assists) in 64 games. This was a breakout season for Ceci, after putting up seasons of 12 and 34 points previously with Ottawa. His 34-point season in 2010-11 was second among Ottawa defensemen, while his nine goals led the 67’s blueliners, and nearly triple his output in 2009-10.

He is ranked No. 6 among all North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, and No. 14 overall by TSN. He’s also represented Canada at the 2011 World Under-18 Championship, and his home province of Ontario at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He was one of five players eligible for the 2012 NHL Draft invited to Canada’s World Junior selection camp in 2012.
