We were able to avoid our worst fears this weekend in the aftermath of Ondrej Pavelec's terrifying collapse during Friday night's game against the Washington Capitals. It turns out that Pavelec only suffered a "fainting spell," not something more serious like many feared.
Pavelec Released Form Hospital, Won’t Travel With Team Soon
The team released a report Monday that stated that Pavelec had a neurocardio syncope episode (a type of fainting spell). He will undergo further testing on his heart, in addition to blood and genetic tests. If all goes well, he will be medically cleared and will be able to resume playing once the concussion symptoms are cleared.
While we should wait on the tests before finally feeling relieved about Pavelec’s condition, this is obviously good news. Those tests will occur today. Pavelec will not be travelling west with the Thrashers as they open a three game road trip in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
