If you want evidence that Gary Bettman isn’t always completely truthful with the media, look no further than this weekend, when he called the pending sale of the Buffalo Sabres to Terry Pegula “not yet nearly done.”
Today, the Sabres announced that Pegula has entered into an agreement to purchase the team from Tom Golisano. The NHL must place its stamp of approval on the deal, but after Pegula met with the NHL’s Board of Governors on Saturday morning in Raleigh, N.C., the Buffalo News reported that he impressed the panel.

According to a report by Buffalo’s WGRZ, Sabres owner Tom Golisano is expected to announce the sale of the team to Pennsylvania billionaire Terry Pegula in the week following the World Junior Championship, which is being held at Buffalo’s HSBC Arena.
