Capitals Vs. Flyers: Jeff Carter’s Scores 20th Goal, Gives Flyers Early 1-0 Lead

Jeff Carter’s got a reputation of flying down the wing, ripping a snap shot high and wide, and thus giving the other team an opportunity to strike when the puck wheels around the boards. Just two minutes into tonight’s game, the Flyers forward broke that reputation.

Picking up the puck in the neutral zone, Carter wheeled around the back of the net and wrapped it around the post to beat Michal Neuvirth. The Caps netminder just couldn’t get over in time to protect the post.

1-0 Philadelphia, and it’s still early. D.J. King just tried to give the Caps some momentum by dropping the gloves with Jody Shelley. We’ll see if it works.
