The alternate captains of Team Eric Staal and Team Nicklas Lidstrom at the 2011 NHL All-Star Game have been named, and there will be a rivalry feel to each team.
2011 NHL All-Star Game: Patrick Kane, Martin St. Louis, Ryan Kesler, Mike Green Named Alternate Captains
Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning will join Lidstrom of the Red Wings, while Ryan Kesler of the Vancouver Canucks and Mike Green of the Washington Capitals will join Staal of the Hurricanes.
Division rivals in Kane and Lidstrom will unite to take on Green and Staal, also division rivals. Interesting picks, there. The two groups of captains will work to pick their teams at the All-Star Fantasy Draft in Raleigh on Friday night, an event that will be televised on Versus in the United States and TSN in Canada.
The captains will select their teams and will also select the lineups for the All-Star Skills Competition, held on Saturday night in Raleigh.
