Rangers Vs. Capitals: Matt Hendricks Gives Capitals 1-0 Lead

Matt Hendricks gave the Capitals the first goal of the game at the 1:37 mark of the second period with assists from Marcus Johansson and Scott Hannan.

After a defensive first period, this early goal by the Capitals gives the Washington the early momentum in the game. Both Martin Biron for the Rangers and Braden Holtby for the Capitals have had good games thus far in the game and both defenses are keeping shots toward the outside which is making life easier for the goaltenders.

Both teams are continuing their physical play in this game with a total of 29 total hits in the game compared to the 19 total shots in the game. The physicality in this game along with the strong defensive game from both teams could very well mean that this Hendricks goal could end up as the game winner.
