Marian Gaborik had no clue where the puck was when he batted the puck and it ended up traveling over the head of Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby and into the net for a tying goal. Assists on the goal came from Brian Boyle and Sean Avery.
Rangers Vs. Capitals: Marian Gaborik’s Fluke Goal Ties Game At One
This game is still a good defensive showdown with the Rangers holding the Capitals to just 16 shots thus far in the game. It would be the first time that the Capitals have had less than 20 shots in a game since December 22, 2007 against the New York Islanders. Biron has made 15 saves thus far in the game while the Rangers have 28 shots on net, Holtby making 27 saves.
With as tight as these two teams are playing, this game could very easily go into overtime and progress to a shootout. Where it goes from there is anyone’s guess.
