It was speculated for the better part of the last week, but now we know for sure that Evgeni Malkin’s knee injury will keep him from attending the All-Star festivities in Raleigh, N.C. this weekend.
Evgeni Malkin Injury Will Officially Keep Him Out Of 2011 NHL All-Star Game
Penguins coach Dan Bylsma announced the news after practice today.
Evgeni Malkin was not out on the ice today and will not be in the game tonight,” Bylsma said. “He will also not be going to the All-Star Game this coming week due to the sinus infection, illness - he has symptoms that prevent him from going on the ice at this time. We’ll continue to keep him off the ice.
Malkin hasn’t played in a week and will miss tonight’s game against the New York Islanders, as Bylsma said there in that quote. With he and Crosby out of the game, two of the six fan-selected All-Stars are now out of commission.
No word yet on who will replace any of these injured players.
